Steel announces the attachment of Gil Gerard, internationally recognized for his lead role as Captain William 'Buck' Rogers in the science fiction movie and series BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25TH CENTURY, to BLOOD FARE. Gerard was recently seen in the Syfy original movie GHOST TOWN, and will reprise his famed role with his castmate Erin Gray, in the upcoming television movie BUCK ROGERS BEGINS. Hi. J.A. Steel here. I am currently filming my 4th feature film, BLOOD FARE. As you know, film making is a team effort - so here is your chance to become part of the "Campaign of 1861". I've assembled part of my producing team from my first three movies (THE THIRD SOCIETY, SALVATION and DENIZEN); however, we're here to make an HD feature that is bigger, badder, and has more boom and bang for the bucks. I have a lot of people pitching in, from a Civil War re-enactment group to family, friends, and of course, we want you! We chose $1,861 because it was the year that the Civil War started, but would also provide us with being able to feed our cast and crew for a five day shoot & location fees. We would really like to get to $5,000 so we can have two "name" actors and shoot under the SAG Ultra Low Budget agreement and every dollar above $5K would go to renting cool equipment, like helicopters for aerial shots and even cooler special effects. However, we have to start somewhere....
We are scheduled to start filming on August 13th for three days. We are then scheduled to shoot on September 18th. The film will be shot in HD and edited on Avid. If you notice our "fund by" date is half way into completion of our nine day shoot, so essentially the 1861 is to help complete principle photography.

BLOOD FARE · Status
On August 13th, 2010 we started principal photography for BLOOD FARE with shooting the Civil War scenes including the skirmish of the Lethe Confluence. You can find several behind-the-scenes video clips and photographs in the Behind-The-Scenes section.
We'll shoot the modern day scenes at the end of September. Until then we're busy editing the Civil War footage, continuing with casting, funding, media work and preparing for the filming.
Our original funding goal of $1861 was to feed our cast and crew and pay for location fees for a 5 day shoot. Since that goal has been reached, we are now able to approach "name talent" to be in the film. These are the people that you have seen in B-movies and Syfy. With additional money we can make it bigger, badder, and better than ever. Any additional funds over $5K will be used for additional visual effects, make up effects and post production sound and editing.
